Very well done Swan 601 Flow taking 2nd place on the Rolex Swan Cup. A pleasure to work together with the team and Rigging Projects Ltd, and that the boat lies in our boatyard as a hometown.
Leaving Porto Cervo today marks the conclusion of a project that started nearly a year ago. Tasked by an exisiting client, we helped source and purchase a yacht that was capable of competing at the very front end of the Nautor’s Swan Cup 2018. Evaluating various options, we eventually settled for the Swan 601, hull no. 5 as our platform to build on. Working with a sensible budget, we proceeded to optimise the boat with a full composite rigging upgrade involving Carbo-Link and Future Fibres, a new race boom and reaching strut from Hall Spars, furling gear from KZ Racefurlers and Gottifredi Maffioli , a new bowsprit from OneSails Palma and a new sail package from North Sails . Beyond this, the team worked closely with EMV Marine in Badalona, putting the boat on a serious diet, removing bow thrusters, heating system and generator just to name a few items. Finally, concuding the preperations, the boat received a new bottom job and full new rope package from us.
The hard work by the whole team and faith put into our expertise by the owner saw the boat coming a convicing 2nd place in the maxi division in Porto Cervo. ‘Flow’, sailed by a strong mix of amateurs and a few professionals, was only narrowly beaten by the superbly sailed Swan 80 Plis-Play, but a significant number of points ahead of the other Swan 601s attending. Having delivered an outstanding result to conclude this project the owner and crew are leaving Sardinia elated, vowing to return in 2 years time to go one better.
Thanks team Flow for the opportunity!
